Here’s a screengrab of the problem

This problem only occurs on footage that I captured from tape(beta sp) that was output from our Avid Adrenalin system. Anything rendered on my machine or captured from tape that was originally output from my ppro system are fine.
If I render the timeline to another format, bring it back to ppro and render to mpeg1 it still occurs.
If I render the same footage to mpeg1 using cleaner 1.5, the problem does NOT occur.
I’ve tried about a dozen combinations of settings in ppro all with the same result.

If you are exporting from AA as a QT reference movie, try a self-contained quicktime. You said you tried “other formats”, but you didn’t specifically mention QT.

PS – I estimate your chance of success using my suggestion at about 5% – 10%.

If you haven’t done so already, I recommend spending as much time tweaking project and export settings in Avid as you have in Premiere.

What Avid settings would make a difference?
The avid stuff behaves fine on the ppro2 timeline, and when exporting to other formats besides mpeg1.
I am going to have the avid operator send me a rendered file so as to bypass the tape capture and see what happens.
