I am having a weird problem that i cannot explain, or figure out.

I created a 10bit uncompressed pal project and imported loads of material from digibeta. Its 16:9 FHA, so i also had the project set to anamorphic. The material has imported fine, and if i edit it within the same project – not a problem.

If, however, i create a new project (with exactly the same project settings) and use import files to bring those same clips into the new project, then the clips look fine until i try put them into the timeline when they appear as a small image filling approx two thirds of the space it should. ie..select the clip in the viewer and it displays correctly on my broadcast monitor, drop it into the timeline (either by dragging or using the overlay buttons etc) and it seems to shrink…yet according to the item info, its still the right size. But its not, because if i render out the movie, i’m left with a little movie with a big black frame!!

Am i doing something fundamentally incorrect here? its driving me crazy and its not heping when i’ve got deadlines looming!!

I’m using FCP5, on a quad, with 4gb ram and a Kona 3 video card.

Any suggestions would be really useful.
    thanks
