  • Strange Error message when exporting timeline

I’ve never had this happen to me and I’ve been using Premiere since version 4.5. I have a timeline sequence that I want to export to Encore for DVD authoring. After I set everything up and Premiere CS3 starts to render the timeline (regardless of output settings) I get this error roughly 10-15% into rendering: “Application failed to return a video frame. Canceling the operation.” I’m assuming there’s a problem clip in my timeline but this timeline has 6 video tracks and three audio tracks and Premiere doesn’t tell me which clip may be the offending clip. On top of that, the entire sequence rendered for preview just fine – so if Premiere can render for preview why can’t it render during export?

    Here a couple of suggestions:

    (1) make a totally new project and IMPORT the other project into the new one.

    (2) Create a new timeline in your existing project. Go to the old timeline, copy EVERYTHING and then paste it into the new timeline.

    good luck
