Strange behaviour when importing JPG still-photo

I’ve just got Sony Vegas 9 using the December voucher (upgrading to Vegas 9 for only $149)
Then I opened my old summer holiday video, created in Vegas 8, and alot of the JPG files were red, but only some of them were offline.
Also, if I open another of my old projects, where I used some AVI files rendered in 3DS Max, then it doesn’t show up either!So… I tried creating a new project i Vegas 9, imported some of my holiday pictures, and same thing happened.

Which build of VPro are you using? I had 9.0a and 9.0b, and had only a coupld of red events (one each, I think). Now in 9.0c I get lots of them. I have changed nothing else, so I have no idea why.
I contacted Sony Tech Support, https://www.sonycreativesoftware.com/support/technicalsupport.asp, and they wanted me to send them a sample .veg file, and a copy of a short Cineform .avi. They said the .avi file had static, but it plays fine on my end, so I don’t know what they saw; and it was not always the .avi that went red. Some times even .png’s went red.
The red events on the timeline do not seem to stop the video from playing, or even from rendering, and usually a simple close-and-reopen solves the problem (but not always). I don’t know how to advise you about 3dsmax. Can you write Sony?

No, I haven’t tried writing to Sony yet, also I haven’t tried rendering a clip where the red spots are.
I’m using 9c, and about the issue with the images which is shown on the timeline, but not in the preview window – this only happends when I open an image or movie in the Trimmer.
If I then close and reopen Vegas, then I can see those images in the preview windows. If I then open the trimmer again, same problem occours!
The red spots are still the same, but most of the time, I can see the images in the preview window, even if they are red in the timeline…I hope this information specifies the issues a little bit more!

I do not know why you are using the trimmer with still images. There is no need to do so. You can simply drag their length to any desired value.
I rarely use the trimmer these days. If I need to remove a segment from a clip, I split it at about the middle of the segment to be removed. I then drag the ends inward to the desired trim point. I am then free, should I decide to do so at a later time, to move the “trim” point to any desired location.

I use the trimmer just to see a “thumbnail” of the image/video clip – instead of putting it to the timeline and then look at the preview.
