    Hello,

The problem I’m having is while I’m editing straight lines look like staircases, they’re too jagged. What can I do?

I’m shooting on MiniDV tape, SP quality. I’m editing in SD (which looks horrible on my monitor. but looks ok when airing.)

    That’s interlacing and it’s normal.

Why does my standard def footage look good in camera but look horrible while I’m editing it?

Set your viewer to 100% and you can mess with the “show both fields” option.

Interlaced footage isn’t going to look that good on a progressive display that can’t display interlacing correctly.

Aldo try to male sure in fcp x that your viwer window is set to Two fields. You can chiose that in The top tight corner of The viewer window.
