I work in an office with four FCP editing stations. Currently we work off external drives and move the drives from computer to computer as each editor needs the content on the drive. This has proven to be a total pain. We’ve had several drives go down, backing up is tedious, etc.

Does anyone have any ideas for what we should be using for storage and backup? I’ve been looking into G-RAID a bit but I want to know what else is out there that people have used and feel is trust worthy for multiple system editing.

    Thanks in advance.

I use G-Raids, and they work gangbusters (that means good). Solid drives.

If you need shared storage, and have the money, I’d look into the XServe Raids and XSAN. Otherwise you are going to be moving drives from station to station.

I use a G-Raid 500 gig drive with only one MAC. The drive has been absolutely fabulous for my purposes. Fast, reliable, you’d never know it was an external drive. Looks great too and is light and easy to move around.

The G-Raids are great drives but they will not solve your problem of having to move drives from station to station. You will need to look into the Xserve Raid and Xsan as Shane suggested.
