  • Still Image shows offline in FCPX

No matter what kind of still image I import in FCPX, it can’t read it. A red square with yellow triangle and a question mark shows as thumbnail. Not sure it means offline or there’s something else. I appreciate any hints.

What are the specs of the still image? How exactly are you importing?

    All the best,

I tried different format still images (jepg, tiff, png, pdf, jpg). Nothing worked. I import the pictures without check marking any of the options in import window.

Import from where? If nothing’s checked in importing dialog the file isn’t copied into the event. Please give exact details if what you’re doing, step-by-step.

    All the best,

I have the still images copied in my computer’s hard drive. All the audio and video files of the project I am working on are stored in the internal hard drive of my computer as well. I open the project, click on the event library, then import file, there I choose the stills (jepg, jpg, tiff, pdf, png) from the folder stored in the internal hard drive. In the import window, this time, I check marked copy the event library and make a smart collection options. The stills get imported, but they all show in red thumbnail with the triangle and exclamation mark and a rectangle paper shape on them.

Also, I’ve been trying to figure out how to change the sittings for exporting audio as stereo. Some of the clips in the timeline are mono and some stereo. When I export the video/ audio, in the summary tab, it shows surround sound 5.1 as my output. And in the final exported audio/video mono tracks stay mono and stereo tracks stay stereo. I appreciate your help.

I am sorry for asking too many questions.

In terms of the stills, size matters. I believe FCPX cannot deal with an image greater than 4000 pixels on a side. I try to keep mine no larger than 2500.

How would you propose mono tracks to magically become stereo? If you need them to come out a particular speaker, whether it be 5.1 or stereo, you’ll need to pan/map that clip in the audio inspector.
