  • still image problems in fcp project

Posted by Greg Hammons on December 8, 2006 at 8:23 pm

I am a new user of fcp and have found that some black and white still images look good when originally brought into a sequence and I add motion, but over time some of the images will get a shimmer or distortion to parts of the image. Sometimes the motion in the image will be jerky or jittery (like a pan or zoom). All the photos are TIFF”s of varing resolutions or frame sizes. The frustrating thing is, most still photos in the sequence are fine, but some show this problem. I even deleted one and reimported into the project, but this did not fix the problems.

    Thank You

Fc is not the best program to work with stills. If you want to get something nice and without headaches go to AE or Shake.
But if you have work with stills in FC you shoul have a look to an article of Graeme Nattress “Video Levels in FC” . You can get it from the website of the LAFCUG.

I searched the web for this same problem with moving photo stills in FCP6. I discovered a solution that worked for me. Double click on the photo in the sequence or in the browser, in the viewer window click on the Motion tab, the last option is the Time Remap, click on the arrow and uncheck the Frame Blending. That should take care of the Jitters,Shakes. Hope this helps
