Not sure why I haven’t come across this before, maybe just luck.

The last couple of projects I have done have had still images (jpgs) on a track above a video track. Playing back in the timeline it is fine, but when exporting the still image doesn’t show and the video just freezes for the duration that the image should show.

I have tried all sorts of this to see if I can track down why – the image is larger that the sequence and it is not scaled to fit. There is only one video track below it and two audio tracks. This sequence is a sub-sequence of the main sequence.

I have tried scaling to fit, I have tried making just this section a further sub-sequence. Nothing seems to help.

To solve it I can move the image into the main sequence above the sub-sequence it was originally part of and that works fine – but I like to keep as much in the sub-sequences as possible.

    Am I missing something?

Is the color space of the jpegs RGB or CMYK? Double check that.

    System:
    Dell Precision T7600 (x2)
    Win 7 64-bit
    32GB RAM
Adobe CC 2015.02 (as of 6/2016)
    256GB SSD system drive
4 internal media drives RAID 5
Typically cutting short form from HD MP4 and P2 MXF.

Try turning off any GPU acceleration.

It didnt occur to me to look – the image that was the last issue is untagged…

Would that cause a problem then?

I will convert it to RGB and see I guess!

When I get CMYK files they won’t even load.

(Just got saddled with a bunch of them from a client who came by way of a print shop.)

OK – took a little time to investigate fully.

    Colour profile makes no difference.

I discovered the way to cause it (and avoid it) – if the sub-sequence is a different frame rate (maybe resolution too, didn’t try that) to the one it is nested in and the still image is not scaled to fit exported media will freeze for the duration of the image.

If you scale it to fit it is fine. If the frame rate matches it works scaled or not.
