  • Still image flickers in FCP

    Hello,

I’m using a still image as a part of my HD sequence on FCP.
I made the photo move like the camera is tilting (moved the image center up) but the movement
doesn’t look well, it flickers and look like it waves.

It happens a lot when I use stills.

    Does anyone know the trick?

    The Details:
    Im using a 2848 × 2136 JPEG
    in a HD 1440×1080 25fps progressive sequence.

    Sequence codec?

    Thanks Rafael,

    the compressor is HDV 1080p25

    I exported to a HD 1920x 1080 ProRess 422 movie
and also added motion blur, it looks a little bit better,
    but still wavy.

How do I make it look smooth?

    Hi Hadaska,
FCP is not too good for animating stills, most people use some plugin to get it done better or use something like Motion or AE.
Jpeg also doesn’t helps, better something like PNG, TGA or TIFF.

Unless you intend to print back to HDV tape I think there is no reason for you to work in 1440×1080.
I would try in Prores 1920×1080, setting “Render all YUV in High Precision” (although the stills are RGB), and Render Motion Effects BEST. That might help.
