Ned, I copy the entire link and paste it into an email directly to the client, where I can change the final character. Or, you can paste the link (and modify it) into tinyurl.com, to create a shorter link which can be emailed to the client without fear of truncating.

Most of these services only define users as the person managing the project, so clients / reviewers don;t qualify as users.
