Starting a project in SVP10 and finishing it in SVP11?
Greetings All,
I’ve got a problem, I have SVP10 installed on my computer and I also installed SVP11. I started editing a music video in SVP10, but when I tried finish the project in SVP11 the program kept crashing and freezing.
My question is if I start a project in SVP10 is it possible to finish it in SVP11? Though, this program is new I think it may have some bugs. On another note I was to start A project in SVP11 and finish it in SVP10 and it worked fine. So, is it possible start a project in new SVP10 and finish it in SVP11, or is it that SVP11 is new and if you start a project in SVP11 you have to finish it in 11? To make my point clear is there a compatible issue amongst SVP10 and SVP11. Can somebody please tell me what I’m doing wrong.

You can go from VSP10 to VSP11 but you cannot go back. That is to say, SVP10 cannot open projects saved with SVP11 so once you save it in SVP11, you must finish it in SVP11.

Thanks John! but my issue is when I start a project in SVP10 and try to finish it in SVP11, SVP11 freezes, then crashes, and I was wondering why this is happening?

Have you tried saving a separate copy of the project and then working on it?
That is, open it in SVP 10, then do a “save as” and save a copy of it.
Then open it SVP 11 and immediately save it before making any changes.What happens then?
If that works ok, then make a few edits and see what happens in SVP11. If it crashes, try the same edits in SVP10 and see if SVP10 crashes.
That will definitely help to narrow it down as to whether it’s something you’re doing or whether there is an issue with SVP 11 vs 10.

While you can load Vegas Pro 9 and 10 files into Vegas Pro 11, there are considerable compatibility issues.
If you did a lot of compositing, espcecially with “chroma keying” in an earlier Vegas version and load file into Vegas 11, be prepared for for some hallucinogenic experience! Of course I first suspected that this might be an experience limited to my computer for whatever reasons. However, it was fully reproducible on other computers.
I contacted Vegas customer service and technical support and they confirmed that there are compatibility issues because the plug-ins are structured differently. Further to chroma keying a sequence of effects such as with “soft contrast”, “color correction”, “fill light”, etc. results in something entirely different. It will end up in doing all compositing from scratch in Vegas pro 11. Sony technical support seriously suggested to render out the pieces of footage that have effects and load it into Vegas Pro 11.
In effect it will be wise to keep Vegas pro 9 or 10 together with Pro 11. What makes me worry is the future. Sooner or later the older Vegas issues won’t work any longer with future Windows editions.
Strangely, these compatibility problems with Pro 11 are not communicated anywhere!
For me this a “make or break” point. Do other programmes such Adobe Premiere Pro also have such compatibility issues with new releases?
