Since taking SD video and putting it on a dvd and playing it on a HDTV, it is distorted and choppy. Like in youtube when you can watch a video in all different types of resoultion, can you use adobe premiere or adobe after effects to allow the video to play normal on a HDTV even though its standard video?

    Hi Mike,

Playing a DVD on an HD display should not make it choppy. I have watched plenty of DVDs on HD displays and they can look VERY good. If you are using a standard DVD player with a composite or component output to the LCD, and the LCD is doing the upconversion, that could the issue – some sets do it well, others mangle the signal.

If you get an upconverting DVD player, it will have hardware inside to convert the DVD to HD, and then send it to the LCD via HDMI. A Sony PS3 will do this as well.

If your source video is good and the DVD is authored properly (it looks fine on an SD display), then consider the above options to improve things
