    Hey all –

Upgrading our FCP suite and was hoping to do this in stages, rather than all at once. We have a G4 dual 1 ghz 2 gigs of ram, Medea external scsii drives. FCP 4.5 and 10.3.9, AJA IO

I want to order and install FCP5 Studio on this system to start, then do the storage and CPU upgrade. Will FCP5 run well on the system described above? Should I and can I upgrade to Tiger?

Eventually will go with a new G5, updated storage and a Kona2 card, but for now, is this feasible?

    Thanks in advance

You’re better off just going straight to Tiger / FCP 5.0 as it seems that this is a faster combo than the 10.3.9 route. BUT check in with Medea tech support and your SCSI card manufacturer to find out the best way to update those products for Tiger. There maybe a sequence that is preferred by them on the upgrade. In fact, check in with all your software / hardware vendors for updates to Tiger.

For absolutely certain, disconnect all external devices when installing Tiger and do a Clean Install. I performed a complete erase disk and started over from scratch. It’s been pretty much smooth sailing here so far.
