If Jeremys suggestions do not work you could try re-installing FCPX by trashing the version you have got and re downloading from the App store.

I have found this has fixed similar ‘what the f***’ problems.

By the way do you have 2 versions of FCPX on you system? You mention that ver10.0 doesn’t recognize your events and projects anymore? I can’t see how this is possible.

The main thing however is that you still have your Events and projects intact. That’s encouraging.

unfortunatly i tried it all, and it didn t help.

am i the only one having this very strange problem? i imported under 10.0 and analysed while
importing.

than i did the update ( and learned that even the smallest update while doing a project is a like opening a door to hell )
and kept on working. till i found this problem.

in the meanwhile i found out that in all projects made in 10.0 the clips that have been in the timeline before the update can still be stabilized, and have the option. but bringing the same clip in from the event browser to the same timeline now results in the same missing stabilize option.

i m a bit thankful that my project and events folders are intact, that i m pretty healthy and my family and friends are fine but im really not encouraged with this problem…but you re right, always could be worse 😉

no i just face to repeat about 2 weeks of fulltime working with hundereds of markes with translations of 20 h of material.

I feel your pain. But I think it is solvable, as it sounds like something is corrupted. A few things to try:

1 – If you locate the original clip in the browser and the replace in the timeline does it still not have the stabilization option?

2 – If #1 didn’t help, export your Event to XML (deselect all clips in the event browser, then click on the event from the Event Library, then File > Export XML.) and then reimport. Don’t worry this won’t effect your original event, it will import a copy. You will loose shot/take and reel numbers (unexplainably they are not supported in FCPXML 1.0) but if that is a big deal to a batch rename to your clip names to include the shot/take and reel. Then try #1 again with the new event and see if that solves it.

2a – If you are far along with editing you could try exporting and reimporting your project as XML.

3 – If #1 and #2 don’t work. I would call Apple.

4 – If the call to Apple doesn’t fix it. Let us know and perhaps someone here would be willing to screen share with you and try to resolve it (I would be more than happy to help you out.)

One more question. How far along in editing are you? Is your rough cut done, or are you just getting started?

thanks, #1 doesn t work, i ll try #2 and #3 now.

I m not far in the timeline edit but there are hundrets of markers in the event browser,
which i have put there with a translator by my side, and loosing these and having to
replace them would be a real pain, and the worst thing is that i m really in a hurry…

i hope exporting and importing to xml keeps the markers..i ll tell you in a bit.

I already tested it, markers and favorites come in just fine from FCPXML. 😉

As an update on this issue, we got it resolved. This project began in 10.0.0 and then had some relinking issues and then it updated to 10.0.1, so I suspect the problems were compounded in the update.

To fix this I got the FCPXML files for the event and I was able to find out there were corrupted clips. Attempting to reimport the XML resulted in a crash for FCP X. So here is what the bad clips looked like in the xml:

As you can see the id=”r1″ is an declared as undefined, so that seemed the likely problem.

While here is what a good clip looks like:

I deleted the bad clips from the XML resaved and then in imported without a problem.
