Activity Forums Storage & Archiving SSD Raid

Using SSD 128GB (USB3.0) for finishing 4K time lapse on FCPX. It gives me around 220 GB/sec on Blackmagic Speed Test and transfers at 13GB/min when going to and coming from a 6TB Raid USB3.
Tried to a do a software raid on Mac, externally while the raid enclosure arrives and the speed does not increase but about 10% (striped).
Is that normal? or it has to be done by electronics on the enclosure when it arrives? or it will not increase at all?
Did the same trial (curious) with a couple of 2,5 sata II 7200rpm 500GB and the speed doubled from about a hundred to 220.

    Imac 27 Quad 3.4, 16GB Ram, 2GB Graphics, 6GB USB3.0 & Esata Raids
