Hi, we are urgently looking for a way to import SRT subtitle files into FCP. We have found one or two methods but the main issue is that there is no way to control the appearance of the text other than manually editing each text clip, and there is going to be a lot of subtitles.

In particular, a problem is that there is no apparent way to set text wrapping so the subtitles do not run off the edge of the screen.

Is there any tool/plugin which might be able to help with this?

    Thanks.

    Hi Chris,
They have been few threads about this subject.

Well yes I have searched several forums for advice but found none pertaining to this specific issue. However I did come across the app Title Exchange (if I remember that correctly?), which allows you to specify text settings; no text wrap but it ticks every other box.

well, you can always use this:

It is very easy to set the line break with a keyboard shortcut (control arrow IIRC), without moving the cursor to the specific place.

Then you can export to XML, or bitmaps and have them in FCP.

    Oh, i forgot…

The SRT format allows for line breaks.
So you could edit them in a text editor also. Do keep one line blank between titles.
Perhaps this will help if you’re using TitleExchange.
