  • Squashed when I export in Anamorphic

Another probably simple question re anamorphic – I have all my project settings, sequence settings marked anamorphic – why doesn’t it export as anamorphic? Instead I am getting a squashed movie?

Anamorphic is squashed (or squished really). If you want it to view as 16:9, then you don’t want to export it as anamorphic. Export it as a 16:9 ratio size. 640×360 for example would be a large web 16:9 movie.

    Brverly,

The squished movie is normal. For it to look normal when you export it, you’d have to use QuickTime conversion, and set the size to 853×480. Also, I think you can set QuickTime player to display the squished movie at 16×9.

The squished movie, when put into DVDSP will stretch itself out when you set the track to 16×9. Also, Compressor will do this too, but it will make a file that is 720×404, so it’s a toss up as to which option you go with.

    Here’s a great article.
