Currently working on other machine and not mine. Noticed whenever I generate particles I get repeated squares. Each square made up of a series of dots. Opened Motion and particles there do exactly the same thing. Squares are static by the way. Is this a graphics card problem? Haven’t rendered anything out yet so might be only on the computer screen. I’m using a dual G5, up to date OSX and I think the card is a Radeon X800 XT.

Try running pIllusion with software rendering. Either from the OpenGL page of Preferences, or by launching pIllusion with the Shift key held.

If the problem goes away, it’s a video driver issue.

If the problem doesn’t go away, please post a screengrab.

Also, have you tried restarting the computer already?

OK, software rendering loses the squares but how clunky it gets. How does one sort the vid driver problem.
    Thanks in advance

Check and see if ATI has an updated video driver on their site.

Updated driver, no difference I’m afraid. It’s not a killer problem as I experimented and it renders without showing the squares. Just annoying seeing them there. Interestingly it only shows on certain emitters, especially smoke like ones. Ever come across this one before?
