  • Sprinkles on a donut?

Posted by Kelly Johnson on October 2, 2007 at 2:47 am

I’ve been using Instances of a capsule, tried an Array, Symmetry etc… I even tried using a particle generator and used the capsules as the particle….

But, there has to be a better way to add a random amount and placing of an object (capsule)…isn’t there?

I’m making a donut with chocolate icing and sprinkles and have the rest fairly ok right now but I’m trying to find a more efficient way to add sprinkles…besides an image map.

    Any ideas/pointers?

Should anyone run across something similar, I found a fairly good solution.

I used the Place On Points2 plugin. I specified the icing (top half of the modified torus I used for the body) and then used a small capsule for the object.

Using polygons instead of points for placement helped.

MoGraph Cloner object in surface mode

    -Doughnut
    – Cloner Object
    – Sprinkle
    other sprinkle shapes

Cloner Object – Object tab (leaving out a bunch of info but these two are the important bits)
    Mode – Object
    Mode – Surface

Seed and Count to control sprinkles, Selection to limit to poly selection if desired.
