Splitting and shortening
Hey guys,
What I want to do is shoot a long video, and then condense it into a shorter one, by splitting it into segments, and making some segments very fast, some not . I’m 90% of the way there, but this is what happens
For example I split a segment into 3 parts (by using the S key twice). I apply a 300% velocity envelope to the first segment. Then I hold and drag it to shorten it to it’s first loop point. For whatever reason, when I do this, this segment now includes footage from the second and third parts! What the hell, I thought when I split it, I made it independent?

Vegas is non-destructive. Splitting the event just makes two events of the same media. The only way to do what you want is to render the split event to a new track, then speed up the new event.

That’s what I love about Vegas. There’s usually two, and often more ways to accomplish anything. Since I never use them, I forgot about subclips.Steve Mann
