I have an audio stereo file guitar in L track and violin on R track.
How do I split these 2 tracks and still make it sound stereo to adjust some volume independently. I was be able to do it in FCP7 easily.
Here splitting into 2 mono the song becomes Mono.

It looks like FCPX doesn’t separate the channels as right and left Channels

    Thanks.

So, you have a stereo audio file in the timeline, and you’d like to adjust volume and pan of each track independently, correct?

Highlight the clip in the timeline.
In the inspector, change the audio type to dual mono.
In the timeline right click on the clip and choose show audio components.
The two channels are now shown. Highlight the first one.
In the inspector choose pan mode stereo.
    Pan left.
    Adjust volume.
    Repeat for the other channel.

Essentially it’s the same as legacy with the one extra step of showing audio components.
In legacy you’d have to change the stereo track to dual mono just like X. Then, you’d have to select each channel independently and pan and adjust volume independently.

Thank you, thank you, Bret. I could never guess my self, maybe because I am losing my patients to learn how to use FCPX after 10 year of using FCP 4-7.

Feels like I am learning how to walk again.

    Cheers!
