Spiral / Vine Sort Of Effect Growing In Corner of Screen

I’m looking to create this sort of sort of thing in After Effects:

Except I want it to be a growing motion. Any help on what effects to use and what to set it to?

For the most part, this is done by cutting all of the elements up into the sections you want to grow, moving the pivot points, and animating the growth. There’s also VideoCopilot’s Evolution:
