Hi, every time I start FCPX I get about 25 secs of spinning beachball, I’ve tried trashprefs, completely reinstalling and taking out all the plugins. It even does it on a new empty library with nothing in. Any thoughts?

What else is hooked up to your machine?

    What are the machine specs?

2008 8-core MacPro 32gb, Radeon 7950 with Sonnet E4P card and G-RAID Drive. Everything else with FCPX runs as expected, the beachball appeared a month or so ago.

My first suspicion would be a hard drive slow down. What speeds are you getting on your boot drive? Externals?

    Have you tested the RAM?

Yes, I thought that too, RAM tests OK and I have an SSD boot with 250mb read and 170mb write

And X boot is the only slow down you notice?

You have no other peripherals attached?

Just a USB printer and I tried removing that as well. Only FCPX has the issue, everything else is fine.

    Seems odd.

Have you tried making a new user to see if it goes away?

That’s the one obvious thing I haven’t tried! Will give it a go

Yep, it doesn’t do it if I log in as a different user! Hopefully a clean install of Sierra will fix it

    Sierra? You rebel.
