Sphere joining pipe
Posted by Tazmania on May 26, 2007 at 9:42 pmHi.
I know this sounds so basic, but i cant seem to think how to do it, i’ve tried a square in a hypernurbs and extruding a pipe from that.
I want a sphere, that i will later add detail to, but first i want to attach a pipe with fillet from the sphere. ie two spheres connected to a pipe inbetween with small fillet. I wish cinema4d had join and fillet options.
thanks
taz

May 27, 2007 at 6:22 pmMograph’s spline wrap on a capsule object. Failing that, the free ‘Path Deformer Lite’ from Renato. Failing that, if you’re in V9.5 or later, you can adjust the rounding on either end of a SweepNurb.
Here’s Path Deformer
https://www.tarabella.it/c4dbeta/index.phpCinema does indeed have fillets. Use Structure>Bevel for the most basic of them for polygon objects (not primitives). For another option there’s ChamferMaker:

May 27, 2007 at 10:09 pmBoth plugins do not seem to show up?, im on 9.6xx (mac)
As to the sweep nurbs i give it a go, so can’t be done easily via polys?

Anyway the only way i can do it with polys is to have a long box, and knife 2 squares ethier end, and drop it into a hypernurbs and refine it. Its not great, is there a better way?. Why at times are simple things hard to achieve with advanced software?
I wish you could dop a poly sphere and a tube into a new advanced ‘join and fillet’ deformer, and then cinema attaches both of them, and allows manual fillet, job done.

May 28, 2007 at 4:18 amThat’s possible via plugin whose name escapes me. But seriously, it’s overkill. Just get Path Deformer Lite.

May 28, 2007 at 5:31 pmthanks, but the plugin does not show up in my plugins menu, even though i have put the folder into my cinema plugins folder :(.
Anyway still not sure how it will be able to help with my modeling question.

May 28, 2007 at 5:41 pmMaybe you just need a capsule object. That’s a primitive. As for whether PathDeformer works, I just downloaded PathDeformer Lite, booted 9.6 on my Mac and it works perfectly, so it’s down to how you’re installing it or where you’re looking for it. As for what you mean by a ‘small fillet’ on the pipe, you have to explain what you’re thinking of better, or maybe someone else who can read this situation better should jump in with some other suggestion.
