Speedy Footage?
I am currently elbow deep in a project that includes some footage of people filling up a room with furniture and accessories. The footage was shot on the Panisonic Varicam at 6p – giving it a nice “ghosting” effect. However when I speed up the footage in Final Cut I lose most if not all of that effect. I’ve tried injesting with a couple different codecs (AJA Kona2 – 720p 23.98 DVCPro HD & AJA Kona2 – 720p 59.94 DVCPro HD), tried the frame rate converter, increase the speed of the clip – all working fine but not holding the ghosting effect! Does anyone have any suggestions to speed up the footage while maintaing the 6p look. Thanks!

You will need to to distinguish for us the difference between ghosting and smearing. Your “6p” was shot at what shutter speed?

no shutter…the “ghosting” effect is the blur behind the moving subjects. What we had the subjects do is enter the frame, hit the mark, then stand still for a moment. Our thinking behind this was that once we sped up the shot we would get them streaking or blurred into frame then become clear once they came into a stand still. But I lose the blur once the clip is sped up.
