    (i) I read that Warp Stabilizer is CUDA accelerated. Is the initial computation phase CUDA accelerated or only the viewing phase after the initial computation?

    (ii) I noticed that during its “background” computation phase, the Warp Stabilizer only uses one of the cores on my quad-core. Sometimes I actually would want it to use up all of the cores. Is there a way to do this?

    (iii) I just upgraded my computer to i7-2600K with 16GB RAM. Should I have gotten more RAM to make things faster?

    If it is a primarily CUDA process, it is using the GPU’s, not the CPU’s, so a single CPU wouldn’t be a problem.

    You are probably OK on RAM. You can look at the database on ppbm5.com to compare your same CPU performance against machines with different amounts of RAM, disk drives, etc. If you have enough slots, I added 24GB (3x8GB chips) recently for $180.

    Is your card enabled for Mercury Hardware Acceleration? (CUDA cores.) If you had to do the hack, it needs to be done again when you upgraded to CS6.

    Michael,

    On my machine the GPU usage is 0% During the “Analyze in Background” phAW. cpu usage is around 40%

    Pretty Sure the Analysis is happening all on the CPU, the playback of effects once its finished goes to GPU.

    Is there any way to make the computation phase a foreground process?

    A two-minute clip took 30 minutes to process as a background process.

    Sorry, lost track of this thread.

    There are two posts on the Adobe forum from 6/14 saying the same thing, that warp stabilizer is using CPU only. No response yet. I don’t knwwo if one is from you?

    I think there was a software update to version 6.01 around taht time. Did you install the update? Just wondering whether there was a bug that was fixed?

    I’m reading other things on teh Adobe forums, I’ll post if I see anything more on Warp & GPU.

    Michael,

    I think those posts are referring to something different. I struggle with “phase I” of the stabilization, where it says “analyzing in background (step 1 of 2)”. This is very slow for me, and the GPU does not kick in by design I think.

    OK, got it.

    You might try to use Warp Stabilizer in After Effects for comparison.

    There is an option there on how many CPU’s to use, and how much RAM per CPU.

    If you have a web site to post a test project for download, we could compare timing to render on different machines. That might tell you if there is a glitch in your setup?

    I found a fix. You break the clip up into pieces and run the analyses simultaneously.

    Thanks very much for this. I am warp stabilising 90mins of footage shot from a suction mount on the side of a train. It was going to take 20 hours. By splitting it into 8 layers it will take 3
