    Hi guys,

A personal project I’m working on involves a Saturn V rocket blasting off (produced in Cinema4D). One camera angle I’ve set up is a chase camera heading up with the rocket slightly below it (but above the exhaust).

When watching the render back, it just doesn’t look like the rocket is moving. The background is just too far away.

Does anyone have any suggestions for how I can add some speed effects?

Is the rocket actually moving in AE space? If not, make the background large and move it down screen to increase the illusion of motion.

You can change your C4D chase camera so it trails the rocket, even just a bit. Perhaps as the rocket accelerates, it could travel up the screen.

You could also comp in some partially-transparent 2D clouds in the foreground AE, moving very quickly in the opposite direction of the rocket’s travel.

    Mr. Quince
You can add some cloud in foreground and instead of uniform white fog it will be better if you will use cloud shapes with different pattern going downwards.
Next you can add a little bit of wiggle to the camera to show the shaky movement will enhance the speed effect.
