    Hi all,
First, my apologies if this isn’t the best forum as it really doesn’t have much to do with FCP, but I didn’t know where else to post. Please redirect me if you know of a better place.

Anyway, I have quite a bit of footage that I’m trying to log and organize, and even though CatDV seems like a good product, I’m not quite ready to put up that kind of money if I’m just going to end up using spreadsheets anyway.

After just logging several hours of video by hand, I realized that life would be a lot easier if I could use a dictation program of some sort for my notes, allowing me to keep my eyes on the screen while watching the video. I’d like to be able to watch a video and be able to dictate something like: “Beth walks through field. Dogs follow. Nice zoom at 40 seconds. Good B-roll.”

It would also allow me to give a rough transcription of interviews by pausing the video along the way: “Beth: The reason I started the organization was to…”

Something like this would save me a tremendous amount of time and would give me much more detailed notes than my current shorthand.

I’m on a Mac and haven’t been able to find a program that looks promising. Any suggestions?

    Thanks in advance,

    Michael
