Source Footage says 720×480 for HD footage??
Hi there,
sorry for the newbie question.
Ive used sony vegas for a while, but always using an SD camcorder.
Ive just bought a Canan HV30 camcorder. After setting my preferences in the camera (to HDV30), i go ahead and shoot some footage, and then use Vegas to capture my footage as i always do.
except in the bottom corner it says “source footage” is 720×480
and even once i finish capturing my footage, it says the same thing….
i assume it should be saying 1440×1080…..
but i cant see anywhere to change it?
(im assuming that setting the “project” has no affect on the source footage)what am i doing wrong????

You don’t capture HD footage the same way as SD footage so perhaps this is the problem. There are two capture utilities, one for HD and one for DV. If you are using the DV capture this may be why your getting SD footage. Use the HDV capture utility in Vegas and make sure the Canon is set to output HDV over firewire and not DV downconvert (which it sounds like what you’re getting).
