i’m editing a live show on FCP using video that was imported as pull down removal 23.98 48khz NTSC. i am trying to sync it to an audio tract of the performance that was taken off the board. the audio is an aiff file at 48khz. the video falls out of sync with the audio tract. it seems as though the video is running slower than the audio because although they are synced together at the begining – about five minutes into it they are becoming out of sync and ten minutes latter it is significantly noticable that the audio is precieding the visual.

    please help, i’m very confused.

    thanks.

Which device was used for recording the audio? Was it synced? Even digital devices can run out of sync with time, if they don’t have a reference signal.

    hi Uli,

thanks for replying. the device was a hard drive set up by the sound techs – i’m not sure what type – something recording wave files. the cameras were not synched with the hard drive. we had ran a xlr from the board into one of the cameras for a master synch on the sound but the camera’s hard drive (fire store) went down. i’m using the sound guys recording as a back up. any suggestions on how i might get the sound files to synch with the video?

    Best,

    Chip
