After seeing a recent post on a news group as to how people have learned and become proficient with Vegas, I thought it was time to expand my own learning by ordering a training DVD. I know I’m only scratching the surface of what Vegas can do – and for what I’m using it for, I can be afforded a “slow learning curve”.

I only made it about 45 minutes into the training DVD and was working along with some of the steps, when I may have selected “something” that mutes the audio track of when I drag an AVI clip into the timeline. The clip plays fine in the preview window, but no audio plays when taken into the timeline.

I checked the “mute/solo” buttons, as well if any FX were restricting the playback, but no luck.

Can anyone jump in with some suggestions.

I find it ironic that in an attempt to make myself “smarter” about using Vegas, and in spite of the fact that I’ve produced some fairly decent stuff in relatively “painless” fashion, that I actually exposed how little I really do know about the program. (especially about the basics).

    Thanks in advance.

Are you seeing activity on your Mixer display? If not, do you have the Master bus muted?
