Recently my G5 started not allowing sound when I use L to scrub quickly through footage, but I didn’t (mean to anyway) make any changes. Ideas?

Second issue, whenever I put music into FCP, it tends to be jumpy, that is to say, there are lulls and peaks in the music and it sounds like the speaker connections are getting partially disconnected, then plugged back in. The problem continues after DVDs are burned.

    Thanks everyone.

Are you attempting to use mp3 audio files?
FCP is not compatible with mp3’s.

As to the lack of “scrub” audio, look under the “View” menu and see if audio scrubbing is selected.

First thing: make sure you are monitoring audio out of the dv deck or camcorder and NOT the Mac. 90% of the FCP illiterati is set up wrongly for audio. Next: Another thing is to always do an audio mixdown before output. Finally, don’t use low quality audio files, such as MP3 in the timeline. Not sure if any of those things apply to your situation, but check ’em out.
