I very recently got a new Mac Pro tower (2.8 GHz quad-core) and did a clean install of FCP Studio from the install discs. And now, I seem to be having a myriad of sound issues with FCP.

I am working on a project that I started on my old tower – I was running FCP 6.0.4 and now am at 6.0.5. I would have the occasional audio playback problem – but nothing major – but now my problems seem constant.

When I play back my edit, I get these big bursts of distortion in my audio track at points. If I change a value and force it to re-render it usually goes away. I have also tried audio mixdown before export but it seems that new distortions start popping up on my exported tracks.

I have about 4-8 tracks at any one time and am forcing to render over 6. I am pretty good about normalizing my sample rates and think everything matches.

Anyway, I am just trying to figure out where the problem lies as this is a new set up and I am worried about what the issue might be.

    Thanks!

How are you monitoring the audio?
