SOS Newer AE file will not open in older version

Working as intended, however there should be an option to save the project with support to an older version.

That’s normal, Adobe is not allowing you do open a project saved on a newer update. However, what you can do is on the new AE, click on “Save as -> Save as CC(14) or Save as CC(13), depending on the update you need.
