I have been getting this error message several times per day
‘sorry a serious error has occured that require Adobe premiere pro to shut down-we will attempt to save your current project.
the program then shuts itself down and will not reopen…..when the machine is rebooted it shows another error(on shutdown) of ‘photoshop server.exe application error’ premiere will open and run normally until the serious message pops up….usually when scrubbing the timeline(it seems)I have become a ‘save’ every 2 seconds paranoid lunatic with this problem! and believe me I dont need much help in that department!
I am running Production studio premium CS3 on a
    Pentium 4 2.8ghz
    2GB ram
    Matrox parhelia 128
10,000 rpm raptor main drive + several external firewires for scratch-storage etc
    any help is much appreciated
    regards
    Steve
also need to add another error message that appears on shutdown
‘the exception unknown software exception(0x000009) occured in the application at location 0x78138a8c
click ok to terminate the program’

Hey I feel for you…I get this exact same error when doing the same thing. Also when trying to trim a clip buy scrubbing left to right or right to left. What gives with this? Dam frustrating all these serious errors with no explanation as to whats causing this. Really getting frustrated with Premiere Pro. I have the same specs as you.
