Pardon my lack of enthusiasm about this recent announcement of a $12K card for accelerating MPEG2 encoding.

Looks cool, but so did Blue Ice.

    > “We developed Sorenson SqueezeHD XCEL to empower our customers to quickly encode significant quantities of high definition content, while enjoying the industry-standard quality and simplicity of Sorenson Squeeze,” said Matt Cupal, president of Sorenson Media. “The resulting solution combines blazing-fast encoding speed, quality and ease of use to meet the needs of the most demanding video professionals.” < And not a single consultant has told them to stop using 20th Century weasle words! bogiesan This is my standard sigfile so do not take it personally: “For crying out loud, read the freakin’ manual.”

How dare you mock them? This is indeed a paradigm shift allowing for multiple synergies across integrated product lines!!!

If only they had expended the energy used creating that announcement on making Squeeze 4.x run on an Intel machine…
