  Sorenson-compressed movie not importing into FCP

  I’ve compressed two different Quicktime movies, both in Squeeze with the same Sorenson 3 settings. Aside from content, the only discernable difference being the frame rate (15 vs. “29.94”). I write “29.94” because the clip was 29.97, and Squeeze was set to encode at that frame rate, but QT player indicates 29.94.

  The 15 fps clip will import into FCP, while the “29.94” clip will not. I get “file error: unknown file” instead.
  Both clips will play in QT player.
  If I use different Squeeze settings on the “bad” clip, it still won’t import.
  The “bad” clip contains recompressed stock footage thumbnails, but FCP imported those, and can import the “master” clip file that was used when compressing to Sorenson.

  So FCP won’t import a particular Sorenson clip because of its content? Any ideas?
