Sony’s response about pixel aspect ratio being changed in Vegas 11
After sending a bug report to Sony about how all my Cineform avi footage had the pixel aspect ratio changed from 1.33 to an incorrect 1, they were able to reproduce the problem and sent me this explanation.
Thank you for writing back. Our development team got back to me with this response:
The issue is that VP11 is not updating/installing the Video Profiles.INI file located at C:\ProgramData\Sony\Vegas Pro. We’ve bugged the issue. The workaround is to load one of the Cineform AVI files into Vegas, then right click and choose properties. Change the pixel aspect ratio to 1.333 here, then click the Save button (Save settings to video profiles for future auto detection) and click OK. Subsequent import of similar AVI files should correctly adjust the PAR.
We haven’t tried the workaround script yet, but in theory that should work too. However, scripting is not supported by us here, so if you have any questions you will need to use the forums.
So if anyone else is having this problem, there you have it. Vegas 10 and 11 have gotten very buggy with Cineform avi files, so I’ve been just using Vegas 10 and the AVCHD straight from my cameras to edit.
