Hi all I have just upgrade to sony vegas pr0 10 from vegas 7. When i start vegas and open a project it takes about 5 min to load, is this normal for pro 10.

Also in the preferences Tab under video i have change the Show source to Head, Tail. In the Dynamic RAM Preview max what is the best value here.

In the audio Tab i have changed the Waveform display while recording as Dont show Waveforms but the waveforms still show in project, the waveforms seem to take the longest to load up when opening a project.

    My computer specs are:

    – Pentium®DC & Core™2 & Quad Core 2x PCI-E 16x SLI Ready Slots, 2 x PCI, 2 x PCI-E, 4 x DDR2-
    800(Dual), 4 x SATA2 RAID, 1 x ATA100, 8 x USB 2.0, Gigabit LAN Durability Series – All Solid

Transcend® Multi Card Reader – USB 2.0 WHITE – Supports CF, SD, miniSD, MicroDrive, MMC,
Reduced MMC, MMC Mobile, Memory Stick, xD

    – 3 Port PCI Firewire Card

Do you see anything that needs to change to make my computer respond better to vegas pro.

Vegas pro10, is a big jump from vegas 7 i see, not just in the look and feel but also my computer is feeling the extra processing power needed to run pro 10.
It seems when i am in vegas pro 10 working on a project if i move away and open a folder or media player vegas stops responding and i have to go to task manager to close it down.

Can anyone help me with all these questions

You gave us the specs for everything but your processor. I beleive that this:

    “- Pentium®DC & Core™2 & Quad Core 2x PCI-E 16x SLI Ready Slots, 2 x PCI, 2 x PCI-E, 4 x DDR2- 800(Dual), 4 x SATA2 RAID, 1 x ATA100, 8 x USB 2.0, Gigabit LAN Durability Series – All Solid Capacitors, 8ch Audio, ATX”

Is the specs of your motherboard which can accept a Core 2 or QuadCore but which do you have and how fast is it?

Setting Dyamic RAM preview to a high value steals available RAM from rendering. Try setting it to zero.

For the benefit of others… what was it set at and what is it set to now? RAM Preview steals memory from other functions in Vegas (including rednering) and only uses it for performing RAM previews (Shift+B) so it is best not to set this too high.
