I have a question about using my Z1-U with Vegas.

I know that my camera uses a letterboxing feature to look like wide screen in the Down Convert menu, but what should my project settings be when I bring the footage into Vegas.

Should I leave it set to DV or change it to Widescreen?

And also, when I’m ripping/recording using the Sony Video Capture feature does it matter what the settings are there when I’m recording the footage from my camera, this always confused me.

    Thanks!

If you are downconverting to DV out of the camera, you are capturing regular ol’ 720 x 480 DV (in NTSC), so your project setting should also be NTSC (or PAL) DV.

Capture makes no changes to your video or audio. It is a direct copy of what the device is feeding the computer.
