Sony XDCAM Transfer software for Final Cut

I’d like to know as well.

I’m just about to switch some shows to all XDCAM workflow now that thats all we’re getting for sources on it.

The release of the software update will also mean the release of the xdcam usb drive.

As for the release date… Usually when Sony says October, that means it will be early November for you see it.

a friend of mine just told me sony has been holding back a few things so that they can have a huge release of XDCAM product in the same day.

So expect:

the EX Camera

xdcam software

xdcam usb drive

to all ship the same month and like Wayne said, its looking like November. (it was originally to be september back at NAB time)

I was told by a sony engineer that the new USB XDCAM drives will only work with leapord and since that’s not being released until the 26th…

I believe thats only for all functions of the unit though.

anyone will be able to import from the drive out of the box.

being able to lay back to it and use it as an archive data disk will require a firmware update on the drive and leopard since leopard is said to include XD/blu-ray file system libraries.
