    Hi,

I’m using a Mac Pro and Sony XDCAM HD PDW-F70 to capture from its FireWire output as DV.

    Mac Pro Configuration
    Mac OS X 10.4.10
    QuickTime 7.1.5
    FCP 5.1.4
AJA Kona 3 with driver 3.4

I configured FCP using Easy Setup to ‘DV-PAL’.

The Mac Pro does not recognised the XDCAM HD VTR, in System Profiler > FireWire section.

I tried changing the VTR iLink connection to AV/C, according to the VTR manual, but still the same.
    Any advice is appreciated.
    Thanks!

    Cheers,
    Ben

First, you need to download the Sony Transfer Software. This will give your Mac the ability to see the deck and the software to transfer your footage into FCP. Secondly, you need to set your deck to FAM mode for firewire to work with the software.

If you are wanting to just “Log and Capture” DV, you still need to download the Sony Transfer software to get the proper drivers needed by the Mac. After you install this, just set your machine to AV/C mode and capture like any DV deck.
