    Hey all,

I’ve got footage taken from the ex1 camera shot at 1080i pal, and would like to print to tape on my Sony DV/HDV deck. I don’t mind it being down converted. When I attempt this the video starts printing to tape but the sound comes through all distorted and inaudible, and the audio bars on the deck have written above them “NS”.

Can anyone help with this problem? Would much appreciate it!

    Cheers

Are you trying to do this via firewire? You should have a capture card for this.

    Yes sorry it’s via firewire.

Then I would export the movie and use Compressor to make a DV version. Then lay the dv version off via firewire.

I tried that and the sound still came out wrecked. I even tried making it dual mono in the fcp sequence instead of stereo to see if that worked, but nada.

[Gary Ellison] “I tried that and the sound still came out wrecked.”

Is your deck in HDV mode instead of DV?

It was on Auto. When on DV the video comes through but the sound is ruined. When I set it to HDV FCP could not find the deck. Anyway of fixing this?

Are you using the DV easy setups in FCP?

Is your sound set to 48k? This is all pretty basic stuff.

I’m talking about the settings on the Sony Deck, my FCP settings are fine, and cheers for the snide tone I guess.

NS I would think stands for no signal?

Why isn’t it getting there? Must be because your deck isn’t setup properly. 1394 should be in DV or DVCam if possible?
