The unfortunate and yet best advice is to never use the latest version.

My version 10e – 32 and 64bit are flawless! I use them to make a living.
I have v11 & 12 installed on a separate hard drive for testing.

BTW i’m an Adobe PPCS6 and Avid MC6 user as well. Head on over to any of those forums and all is not peaches and cream. Everyone app has problems.

    Some rules i live by:
    – Have separate hard drives with different install configurations for different apps/os. HDs are so cheap, and OS/programs HDs don’t need to be big. (ie when i have an AVID project i pop in my AVID HD)
    – Don’t use the latest versions until they are tried and tested.
    – Always have your installation disks and drivers on hand in case you need to re-install.
    – don’t update drivers. I almost NEVER update drivers, ever.
    – If this is your livelihood, and you make a living at it, you owe it to your clients and yourself to have hardware and software redundancys in place.

Since Vegas went south I have redundant SOFTWAREm Nero, Magix, Corel and even Roxio at one time.

I avoid Adobe since I find there spying on me a little too much, I still use (ahem) Photoshop 7 for picture issues and love MS digital imaging pro (MS makes a good program and so it is discontinued).

I make a living on several methods so I need all the programs from website developers (dreamweaver another adobe) to excel to live with each other, Vegas is close becoming a program that cannot do that starting with version 9 or 10.

Its a pity to remember the good ol days when I did EVERYTHING with Vegas and did not need to putz with all these other packages, but tell Vegas you don’t work with all mpeg files and they go silent or insist they do.

They did get the inportant stuff going for me with a 6-hour re-install, but the simply things still don’t work, and they will NEVER be addressed, even if I pay support $30 (which two clients did already when I could not help them fix there Vegas issues) and that $30 did not get them there project done they still needed me to do the GRUNT work.

What a way to run a business thats why so many people now torrent these programs or seek Freeware equals to replace the pain that comes with OWNING your software.

I did get a laptop and am currently contemplating just putting Vegas on it, I normally buy sony but I blame sony for this debacle so I went with another company, I suspect Sony Software will work better if NOT RUN on a Sony computer… This has been there trand lately as well.

I’m new to video editing and decided stupidly to get Vegas 12 instead of one the tried and trusted versions.

I had lost my sony account password quite a while back but didn’t really need it until I wanted to update Vegas which was crashing a lot. Apart from that, it seemed quite good.

However, I have become so frustrated with their poor support regarding this matter (months and months)so have now purchased adobe software. It is very good. Their support seems good too. Their website works well regarding password reset.

Ok I’m a newbie (and I sometimes forget my passwords) but I just had to say what I think about Sony. If I can ever get my password sorted, I’ll try and sell Vegas.

I want nothing to do with them.

    Don’t be discouraged.

I am in the same boat as you, can’t get Mpg files to load, and now other Sony Products are heading south.

Its my firm belief that just like our government has become excessively corrupt that such corruption has infiltrated the Large Software Company market.

If you keep Vegas and find a solution, I would LOVE to here it, no one seems to be able to easily fix tehissues and you have to be a hacker to get stuff done.

Any assistance would be appreciated. (Although I think you may have been referring to someone else’s comment).

I cannot action a password reset on the sony creative website. It partly works but always ends up with an error page or maybe just doesn’t work. Therefore, I can’t download and install the latest Vegas12 update.

The customer service phone line (in the UK)seems to have been discontinued because all I get is a message telling me to call during open hours (which it is).

Rather than create anymore worry for myself regarding this issue, I bought into creative cloud Adobe for a year with half price upgrade etc.

I did find Vegas quicker as people suggest and I do find Adobe much better quality as other people suggest but either way it would be a good start if sony could sort out my password.

    Any help appreciated

    John

I started keeping track of passwords lost on vegas systems around 2005 I think.

    Lost password signons on:

    06/07/06
    05/22/10
    09/12/09
    01/31/13

Probably allot more times, since I’ve had vegas in the 1980s++.

To my AMAZEMENT (however) it seems out of th eblue and rather suddenly the vegas people documented ALL the Vegas software I had registered since 2000+/- They did lose all the older info.

ALSO all my sony passwords are now the same, creative, photo support, computer, tivo, gigapocket, forums etc…

So there is hope, NOW getting the latest Vegas to work as advertised now thats will be a treat, i think the last time that happened was 2004, maybe earlier?
