Sony vegas slow rendering (too slow)
Hello again! I’m having a problem with vegas, when i try to render uncompressed video, with no effects, just doubled playback rate, it takes too long, while yesterday it needed like 2 min or less, tho it was lower resolution, and no playback rate increase. My comp specification: cpu – intel dual core 2,66ghz
graphics – ati hd 4830 (512 mb gddr3)
2gb ram ddr2 80 gb hard drive

eww forgot to say that it is 45 seconds video, and im using sony vegas 9 platinum
EDIT: reduced it to 20 minutes which i dont know if its okay time for 45 secs video -

Uncompressed video is HUGE (somewhere around 80 GB per hour). Why are you going uncompressed?
What type of file are you trying to render from?(What is your original footage?) -
You will also want to ensure that your opacity slider is set to 100% and nothing below (unless you want it that way)- moving the track opacity slider causes a big hit in performance.

I too have a large file, maybe 40G. Takes forever to render and put on DVD. I don’t know how to compress a file. Where can I look to find out more? Probably on this forum somewhere.

David, a lot more information would be very helpful.
What’s your source file footage(DV, HDV, AVCHD)?
What’s your OS, how much RAM & CPU speed?
How many and what kind of FX do you have on the project?
How long is the project?
Are you rendering to a second hard drive?
