Sony Vegas shows random audio spikes/clipping on brickwall limited audio? Vegas 13
Hi there, I apologise if this has been asked before, but all the posts I found about audio clipping where unrelated to my question.
This problem has existed with Vegas ever since I started using the program with version 8, currently 13 and I’ve never been able to figure out the cause. Hoping someone can help me shed some light on it.
When I import a music track that has been mastered and brick wall limited, i.e. the peak audio should be completely even at the set db level, Sony Vegas always shows heavy clipping on the master bus, up to 1.5db over the 0db line, so I’d typically have to set any music track to -2db to stop it. The whole audio isn’t louder, it just spikes on the peak meter frequently, the spikes are also random, so if I replay a piece of audio the amount of clipping reported is never the same twice.
To filter out the obvious, there is no other audio present, and I’ve checked the audio fx tracks and master busses to make sure no effects that could be altering the audio are active, I’ve also checked the audio in several different applications Cubase, Wavelab, Premier Pro with no clipping issue present.
For reference this happens with various audio formats I’ve tried WAV’s AIFF and MP3’s
Has anybody else had this problem, or found a way to resolve it?
