June 7, 2012 at 4:39 pmCould be the player you are playing back the final rendered
video in that has its settings set darker.
Try importing back the finish video in Vegas and make a side
by side comparison with it and the un-rendered timeline in the
preview window…And see if its really darker.Steve Rhoden

June 7, 2012 at 5:11 pmJust did what you suggested and it actually gets darkend for some odd reason… Using the brightness & contrast video FX for a comparison id say its about 0,4 more contrast. Don’t know how to explain it better than that hah.

June 7, 2012 at 8:00 pmHi,
This could be due to the way Vegas handles video and computer clorospace. See this link for more information
https://www.glennchan.info/articles/vegas/v8color/vegas-9-levels.htm
A quick way to check would be to set your color bit depth to 32 bit and render out a test and see what happens

June 7, 2012 at 8:01 pmYou might find that the Vegas preview is using the 0-255 “computer RGB” system to display video that uses the 16-235 studio RGB range, so it will look less contrasty and a bit brighter.
Your player is probably expanding the 16-235 “studio RGB” video to to full computer RGB 0-255 before displaying it, so it’ll look darker and more contrasty.
I don’t know if there’s a way to make the Vegas preview handle “studio RGB” the same as most hardware-accelerated media players (and real TVs). A workaround while editing is to add the levels plugin with the “Studio to PC” preset to the output FX. You must bypass it when rendering out.
