Sony Vegas problem with previewing a mp4 video.
Hello guys, it’s the first time I have come across such a problem.Yesterday i started editing a video but vegas wouldn’t let me preview my whole video. I’ll try to be as clear as possible. Here’s the case: The video i wanted to edit is recorded with 300fps and is 11seconds long.After i started previewing it in vegas it was like slow-moed and ended somewhere in the middle of the video(let’s say half of the video was cut off).The funny thing is that when i click on the video in vegas it shows me that the video is the same lenght as the original file(11s).The project settings i used were with 60fps and i tried increasing the fps, but it didn’t work.I’ve been trying to fix this problem for a day now and i can’t find the solution to it.I will be really thankful if i receive some help.

Try this–disable resampling for your event. Right-click event, select switches, and then select “Disable Resample”. This will have Vegas select every 5th frame and not try to calculate an average if “smart resample”, the default, is selected.

I run into this same issue with footage shot on my iPhone 6 Plus – it’s at 240fps and I need to drop the velocity down to 10% or so in order for the footage to actually be the crisp, clear slow motion shots that I filmed it in. Try that and then re-render.

That is due to the high 300fps.

No, the rendered video is exactly the same as the vegas video (half video), although i’ve never had such an issue with 300fps and even higher videos(I used to edit some very high fps videos) and it’s not the video itself, because i sent it to a friend, who said that it was being previewed by vegas properly (with a 60fps project setting).

Well then im not sure what could be the problem, because the problem
as you state is not with the file or with Vegas, then its something

You could be right because i’m having the same issue with other videos of the exact same type. However, it doesn’t happen with .avi videos for example.What should i do? Reinstall the codec or something? Sorry, i’m not really that much into computers :). Thanks!

When all else fails, try posting a screenshot of your media properties, project and render settings as well as your timeline. Even better, you can upload a sample to Dropbox or something so that others can have a look at the actual file.

I was able to edit a 300 fps video using the Lagarith codec. Have you tryed it yet?
