I recently heard that Sony Vegas Pro has a lot of built in features that can emulate AE (After Effects) I realize it’s not the end game. Could someone please share with us what those Vegas Features are that are similiar to AE. – After Effects scares me, I am afraid of it….but have made a personal commitment to learn it soon…

What does Sony Vegas Pro do that is similiar to After Effects?

    Thanks!!

Vegas has some of the same basic compositing tools and modes, and as a basic compositor, Vegas is very good. But to compare it to AE is a little far-fetched in some ways, I’d say.

There’s no need to be scared of after effects. A compositing tool as after effects, combustion or fusion is a must have in the world of digital media. After effects and sony vegas are two completely different applications…though you can do great compositing and
    motion graphics in vegas itself.

Conceptually, I’d add that one of the main differences between the two is that Vegas can do stuff in broad brushstrokes, while AE offers (almost) infinite detail

go watch some tutorials on http://www.videocopilot.net if you want to rapidly become enamoured with AE

I can assure you completely (as a Vegas user and a total amateur…lol) that After Effects is not the scary beast you think it is. I felt exactly the same about it but after seeing what it could do to improve my videos I had to go for it. The best advice is to watch the tutorials on here and also on videocopilot.net, watch them repeatedly and follow them as you go. Aharon Rabinowitz and Andrew Kramer both have an incredible knack for making complex ideas understandable and all of the other guys give incredibly useful advice.

Take the plunge, get AE and get started – It will quickly become an extremely powerful part of your video armoury!

    A’ra best
